We are almost there: the bike season of Val di Fassa is just around the corner.
The official start of this year’s bike season will see the return of the MET Enduro World Series Val di Fassa Trentino event and – after its excellent debut in 2019 and the 2020 stop due to the pandemic – it is already one of the most anticipated races in the 2021 EWS calendar.
Val di Fassa will play host to the first two rounds of the EWS season, with events that will take place at a short distance from one another, respectively on Wednesday 23 and Saturday 26 June.
Italian manufacturer MET Helmets is going to be Title Sponsor: a destination partnership in all respects as the company, beside organizing meetings, product presentations and photo shoots in the valley, is equipping all Fassabike guides and skill tutors.
Alongside the support offered by Tourist Board Val di Fassa, which has been among the partners since the beginning of this international adventure, a new sponsor from the region will be joining this year: Trentino Marketing. The 2021 Enduro World Series races will round off a year that for the Trentino region is packed with prestigious cycling events: Giro d’Italia, Tour of the Alps and UCI Mountain Bike World Championships to mention a few.
“The process that has fostered the increasing involvement of Trentino Marketing tourist board in the EWS Val di Fassa event organization stands for all of us, the Organizers Board, as a great acknowledgement of the work done so far. Something that gives us energy and confidence in the future developments of the ‘bike product’ throughout the valley” states William Basilico, president of Fassabike Organizers Board.
Joining forces with MET as partners of the event, two other top-level Italian brands from the cycling industry: Dainese (already partner of the Dolomitisuperski) and Northwave. Each of them will be greeted with a dedicated Special Stage by its own name.
In addition to the two Enduro World Series races, the week’s busy calendar will also line up the EWS100 and EWS80 events. These are two separate competitions that will take place all in once on Friday 25 June, on the same race course of the main event but with a more relaxed format. EWS100 and EWS80 are spectacular and high-profile races dedicated to all those athletes, professional or not, who have not gained enough ranking points in the EWS Global Ranking during the past seasons and therefore have no access to the EWS Entry List. Their simpler, more accessible format – in particular that of EWS80 – is ideal for all those riders who cherish the ambition of becoming stronger racers and want to test themselves on a world-class race course.
Registration to the EWS events on 23 and 26 June is now closed as the maximum number of entries has been reached, as is the case for EWS100 and EWS80. MET EWS Val di Fassa Trentino has sold out!
Meanwhile, the heavy snowfalls of this winter are forcing our trailbuilders into overtime. There is still a lot of snow at high altitude and plenty to do in the woods, but fortunately, with the help of Val di Fassa Lift, the work is moving ahead at a good pace and the trails will be at their best in time for the events and the opening of the bikepark.
